Get through passport control quickly
Help us to get you through passport control quickly
Everyone arriving at Gatwick has to go through passport control. This can be slow if you don't have your passports and papers prepared. We can save four seconds per passenger if you're prepared - that may not sound a lot, but with 3,000 passengers landing at the same terminal in the same hour, that's more than three hours queuing time!
EU passport holders
Please make sure your passport is out of its holder and open at your photo page. Keep an eye out for the next available border officer.
Non EU passport holders
Please take time to fill out your landing card carefully before you join the queue. We've got some desks, pens and spare forms for you to use, so please be our guest. Make sure your passport is out of its holder and open at the photo page, along with your necessary visa, landing cards etc. Keep an eye out for the next available border officer.
Citizens of Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada or Japan may be eligible to trial the new Register Traveller Scheme. Find out more here.
To use the gates, you need to have removed your passport from its holder and have it open at the photo page. Simply follow the on screen instructions.
Travelling with children
If you are travelling with a child (under 18) and are not the child's parent, or may appear not to be the parents (for example, if you have a different family name), the border officer may ask you a few questions to establish your relationship with the child.
Please complete our young traveller's form and bring it with you if you're travelling with a child who's not your relative or meeting an unaccompanied minor.
You can also find out more in the Children Travelling to the UK leaflet published on the UKBA website.
