Premium Passport FAQs
Frequently asked questions about Premium Gatwick Passport Control:
What is Premium Gatwick Passport Control?
Premium Gatwick Passport Control is designed to speed up your arrival at London Gatwick Airport by using a dedicated fast lane in passport control. You will be greeted in the passport control area and then granted access to a lane exclusively for the use of passengers who have paid for the service.
A UK Border Force Officer (UKBF Officer) will check your passport as usual before you progress to Baggage Reclaim or straight through to Arrivals for those without checked-in luggage.
Who is eligible?
Anyone who purchases the service via premium.gatwickairport.com is able to use the Premium Gatwick Passport Control lane.
Why should I use it?
Premium Gatwick Passport Control is designed for anyone who wants the shortest possible wait in passport control.
It is ideal for:
- Business travellers.
- Long-weekend holiday makers.
- Anyone travelling without checked-in luggage.
I’m travelling with children, can we all use Premium Gatwick Passport Control?
Children are welcome if the service has been booked for them and they are accompanied by an adult.
How much does it cost?
It costs £12.50 per person.
What hours is it open?
It is open from 06:00 until 24:00. The lane is closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years’ Day.
How far ahead can I book?
It can be booked up to three months in advance.
Can I book at short notice?
You need to book at least 24 hours before your flight is scheduled to arrive at Gatwick.
Why is it more suited to those travelling without checked-in luggage?
Premium Gatwick Passport Control guarantees you the quickest route through passport control via an exclusive lane. It does not mean that your bags will be delivered by your airline to the Baggage Reclaim area any quicker than usual.
How can you guarantee my wait in passport control will be as minimal as possible?
There are a maximum of 50 passes available per terminal, per hour. This small number means that the lane will never be oversubscribed with passengers and will always be retained for the exclusive use of Premium Gatwick Passport Control customers.
I purchased Premium Gatwick Passport Control and when I arrived to the passport control area at Gatwick there was no queue in the standard lanes – can I get a refund?
There is no refund available in this instance.
Am I still subject to passport checks and the border control process?
Yes. This service only provides a separate lane in the passport control area and you will still need to present your passport to a UKBF Officer who will complete the usual UK entry checks. There is no difference in this process. All standard customs regulations still apply.
I am a non-EU citizen. Do I still need to fill out a landing card?
Yes. The border control process stays exactly the same for Premium Gatwick Passport Control lane passengers.
Can I cancel my Premium Gatwick Passport Control pass?
Yes. We understand that plans can change and so there is no charge to cancel, providing the cancellation takes place 6 hours before you are due to travel. If your flight has been cancelled inside this time frame, please contact Gatwick Customer Services at firstname.lastname@example.org
Can I transfer my Premium Gatwick Passport Control pass to another date?
The simplest way to do this is to cancel one transaction to receive a full refund and make another purchase. There is no charge for cancellation; however the limited supply means that we cannot guarantee that we can transfer your purchase to another time slot.
Why do you need my nationality and flight number as part of the booking process?
The UKBF processing time for EU and non-EU passport holders is different. Understanding the ratio of EU to non-EU passengers using the service at any given time ensures UKBF will allocate sufficient resource to minimise any potential wait in the passport control area.
What payment methods are accepted?
The following credit and debit cards are accepted:
How do I know that my booking has been placed?
Once you’ve finished the booking process, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a unique booking reference.
This can either be printed off or shown on your phone to the host in the passport control area on arrival at Gatwick Airport.
Where do I go once I’ve disembarked from my aircraft?
Follow the signs to Arrivals. There is a clearly branded lane in the passport control area.
Is it cheaper to book online or over the phone?
It is only possible to book Premium Gatwick passport control online.
