Meet our managers - September 2012
Meet our managers - September 2012
This year, we’ve been offering our passengers the chance to meet our managers to feedback their thoughts and ideas and how we can make improvements to our facilities and services.
We’ve been holding a series of these events in different locations across both terminals.
The third of these events was held in September in the South Terminal Departure lounge when we spoke to around 70 passengers and received 88 comments that evening. Many of our passengers found their experience much improved from their last visit to Gatwick.
Here are some of the comments that our passengers made…..
“Signage at check-in is confusing. Flight information screens are needed”
“Information on flight information screens is too small”
“Its ok – nothing special, more flight information screens needed”
“Delayed flight information was poor”
“Rubbish airport and signage needs to be improved. You need more flight information screens”
Gatwick replies:
We’re developing new check-in information graphics in South Terminal to help passengers find their check-in desks more easily. We’ll be testing these new ideas with passengers during the autumn. In areas under development around the terminals, we’ll be installing flight information screens which will display a larger text size. This will improve the passengers’ ease of reading this information.
“Long delays in security- music would be good. Security lanes need to display the correct information”
“Security busy”
“Today there are slow queues in security”
“Security auto gates not working (3 of them)”
Gatwick replies:
We’re sorry that sometimes our passengers experience delays at security. This could be for a number of reasons but you’ll understand that our security teams have a very important job to do as the safety and security of our passengers is a priority.
To help us reduce the queues at security, please ensure that you don’t pack prohibited items in your hand luggage. For the latest security guidelines take a look at our website (http://www.gatwickairport.com/check-in-security/baggage/).
“Good airport. South Terminal departures lounge needs a meeting point”
“More seats needed in departure lounge”
“Easy to get lost in shops - not good if you are in a hurry”
“Why do I need to walk through the duty free shop?”
“DVD/music shop needed. Where has it gone?”
“Jo Malone in South Terminal world duty free is wonderful!”
Gatwick replies:
In July 2012 as part of our transformation of the South Terminal departure lounge, we opened a new World Duty Free store providing passengers with a wonderful new shopping experience. By summer 2013, they’ll be new lifts and escalators, more space for orientation, and a greater choice of high street and high end retail brands in the departure lounge.
Other comments:
“No phone coverage in the departure lounge”
“Need a big clock and “by pass” around shops”
“Free Wi-Fi”
“Charging iPhones should be free”
“Great service in world duty free shop”
“Poor quality PA system – I can’t hear the announcements”
“I fly from Milan every week and prefer you to Heathrow!”
“Polite staff at security. Very helpful”
“We should introduce smaller trolleys like in Asia (Hong Kong)”
