Gatwick Airport welcomes the American National Football League

Gatwick Airport welcomed two National Football League teams to the UK this week in preparation for the NFL Bridgestone International Series game to be played at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 26 October 2008.
The New Orleans Saints and San Diego Chargers arrived at Gatwick on Monday morning aboard flights from Charlotte, North Carolina and Buffalo, New York respectively and were quickly and smoothly on their way to their destinations.
One player not on board the aircraft was New Orleans Saints’ star player Reggie Bush, who injured his knee during the game. Bush is expected to undergo an operation on his knee on Monday while his teammates settle into their London hotel.
“Following last year’s visit by the NFL Miami Dolphins, we are delighted to welcome both teams playing the London game this year,” David Stretch, BAA Customer Service Director said.
“Gatwick Airport has a long and proud connection with many cities across North America and we are pleased to have been able to roll out the red carpet for the NFL again this year. I am really pleased that the NFL has chosen Gatwick Airport again as their airport of choice for this year’s event.”
