Airport gets ready for the appeal of Christmas

25 November 2008

An unusual group of passengers passed through London Gatwick Airport this week as preparations got underway for the launch of the airport’s annual Christmas appeal.

An army of over 100 freshly repainted Father Christmas collecting boxes were being distributed around the airport’s terminal buildings ahead of the official launch of the appeal by His Worship the Mayor of Crawley, Councillor Doctor Howard Bloom on Monday 1 December.

On Monday afternoon, students from Ifield Community College will take their traditional place around the Christmas Tree in South Terminal to lead the singing of Christmas carols. They will be joined by the airport community.

This year’s appeal will support Gatwick Travel-Care, the on-airport charity helping passengers in need, and St Catherine’s Hospice Crawley.
