Over three million passengers travelled through BAA Gatwick Airport in October - an increase of 4.9% on October 2006. This compares to an overall increase of 3.5% across BAA’s seven UK airports and a combined total of 13.2 million passengers.
Gatwick’s North American traffic grew by 11.3% compared with October last year and other long haul traffic increased by 13.1%. Healthy growth was also seen in the European scheduled market where traffic was up by 9.6%.
Andy Flower, Managing Director, said: “I am delighted that Gatwick Airport is enjoying such positive growth in the North American and long haul markets. The diverse range of flights has stimulated the growth in Gatwick’s passenger numbers which will reach 35 million a year by the end of 2007.”
