Community support helps makes sense

25 April 2006

Children from a local primary school are set to benefit from the work of a group of staff from BAA Gatwick who constructed a sensory garden in the grounds of their school last week.

The team, who work in BAA Gatwick’s IT Project Management Services, were joined by their close suppliers, Atkins Consultants, to bring the garden to life. A pergola and raised wooden flower beds were provided by Dyer and Butler (who also provided some of the equipment). A pebble fountain was constructed and the gardens were landscaped.

Other BAA suppliers pitched in to help including SITA, which provided a skip and Inviron who provided an electrician to wire up the pebble pool and fountain. Transport to the school for the workers was provided by Adelphi Travel.

"We are all extremely pleased with what we managed to accomplish in creating a fantastic sensory garden for the children of Manor Green Primary School,” Hazel Davies, from the BAA IT Project Management team said. “It demonstrates what can be achieved when BAA and its partners work together within the community."
