London Gatwick Airport gears up for the Easter getaway, with even more choice in the air and on the ground.
With the Easter weekend just days away, London Gatwick Airport is looking forward to welcoming over a million passengers through the airport between the schools breaking up (Friday 3 April) and the end of the Easter weekend (Tuesday 14 April).
And this summer the airport is offering passengers even more choice, both on the ground before they fly and in the destinations available from London Gatwick Airport.
New retail outlets airside in Gatwick’s South Terminal include Kurt Geiger, offering stunning designer shoes and AllSaints the fast-growing fashion brand. Dixons is bringing its new Dixons Travel brand to Gatwick South Terminal this month. Also opening this month are well-known catering names including Café Rouge, in both North and South Terminals and Caffé Nero which will be offering new coffee shops as well as refurbishing their existing ones.
“We are delighted that our passengers will be able to take advantage of popular fashion lines all at airport prices, as well as being able to experience the brand new food concepts, Mike Luddy, Commercial Director London Gatwick Airport said. “It’s an exciting time to be travelling through Gatwick!”
And once passengers have enjoyed the new shops and restaurants, there is more choice of where they can fly. This summer sees the launch of new routes to Bergamo with Ryanair, while both Aer Lingus and easyJet are starting new routes from Gatwick to Vienna and Munich. The Nordic region is to be well-served with new routes from London Gatwick to Tromsoe with Norwegian Airlines and Keflavik with Iceland Express. The new route of Volos will be served by both Viking and Monarch Airlines. The Moroccan cities of Tangier and Fez will be served by Atlas Blue and, further afield, British Airways has introduced a new route to St Kitts in the Caribbean.
This Easter the ski season continues to be popular with Geneva as the top destination from Gatwick over the holiday period with Dublin (2) and Tenerife (3) close behind. The most popular long-haul destination is Orlando (4) with the ever-popular Malaga featuring at number 5. Edinburgh is the top UK destination from London Gatwick (6). Alicante (7), Sharm-El Sheikh (8), Madrid (9) and Faro (10) complete the top ten destinations
