Steady February passenger growth for Gatwick
13 March 2008
Over 2,300,000 passengers travelled through Gatwick Airport in February, a 3.4% increase on February last year (not including this year’s extra leap day).
The growth trend in the Irish market continued with an increase of 29.6% in the number of passengers travelling to and from Ireland. The European market also contributed to the growth with a 10% expansion in European scheduled traffic and 1.9% expansion in European charter traffic.
However, there were decreases of 2.5% in the domestic market, 1.9% in the North Atlantic market and 5.4% in other long haul traffic figures.
BAA’s UK airports handled a total of 10.2 million passengers, a decline of 0.5% on February 2007 when the extra leap day is removed.
