Press Release

Gatwick Airport: UK Border Agency Strike

30 November 2011 - 12.00

A third of Gatwick’s scheduled inbound flights have arrived without any disruption and passengers have passed through the border zones as normal without delay.

Scott Stanley, Gatwick Airport Chief Operating Officer said: “We are very pleased that the joint working of Gatwick, our airlines and the Border Agency staff over the past few weeks has meant that flights so far today have not been impacted and passengers have not had to endure unnecessary delays and queuing at passport control.

“During the planning stage, we undertook to take a measured approach to managing the potential for disruption as a result of the strike action by UK Border Agency staff. As a result, passengers who booked to fly into Gatwick today have not had their travel plans unnecessarily inconvenienced.

“Our contingency plans are robust and they remain in place as we recognise the situation could change at any point today, but we are confident that those plans will help to keep disruption to passengers and the airport to a minimum.”
