Gatwick announces new supplier partnerships
23 August 2010
Gatwick Airport has announced two new ‘supplier framework agreements’ for the provision of architectural and civil engineering services - as part of its near £1 billion capital investment programme to modernise the airport and provide a better experience for passengers at every step of their journey.
Following full compliance with the OJEU (Official Journal of the European Union) supplier procurement process, Gatwick has entered into a three to four year framework agreement with ten new suppliers to deliver prime design contractor roles for architecture and civil engineering services.
The suppliers on board are:
Architectural suppliers: Atkins; HOK; Jacobs; Morgan Sindall Professional Services;
Pascall + Watson.
Civil Engineering suppliers: Arup; Halcrow; Jacobs; Scott Wilson and TPS.
As an independent airport, Gatwick’s move to prime contracting, will aim to reduce risk and drive value into the delivery of its £1 billion capital investment programme. It will involve the prime design architect or civil engineer taking full accountability for all aspects of the design, including the provision and co-ordination of specialist sub-consultant’s as required.
Each supplier will now be able to tender for Gatwick’s most exciting projects through an efficient and transparent tender process. Architectural projects may include: the North Terminal security development project; the additional pier facilities and the new South Terminal baggage re-development. Civil engineering projects may include the resurfacing of the busiest single runway in the world.
Gatwick’s Director of Capital Projects, Raymond Melee said, “This announcement signals a new era for Gatwick, as we enter into a new type of relationship with our designers. It is another positive step forward in our relentless drive for capital efficiency, quality and safety through design, as we transform Gatwick into London’s airport of choice for the future.”
