Flight punctuality at London Gatwick continues to improve

11 December 2009

Flight punctuality performance at London Gatwick improved significantly during the period from July to September 2009, according to statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority.

On-time performance for charter traffic increased from 55 per cent in quarter three 2008, to 72 per cent for the same period this year.

The punctuality of scheduled services also improved, increasing from 64 per cent in quarter three last year, to 74 per cent for the same period in 2009.

Stewart Wingate, Gatwick's Chief Executive Officer said: "Our ambition is for Gatwick to become the airport of choice for airlines and passengers in London and the South East. This means delivering more efficient operations and a better experience for passengers at every step of the journey though Gatwick."

"Improving flight punctuality is an important part of this and I am delighted that Gatwick's performance has improved for the second consecutive quarter."
