Press Release

Gatwick Easter getaway

19 March 2008

Gatwick Airport is getting ready for a busy Easter with over 600,000 passengers expected to travel through the airport over the bank holiday period (Thursday 20 March through to Tuesday 25 March).

Sunday 23 March is expected to be the busiest day with around 108,000 passengers travelling through the airport. The most popular destinations this Easter are Geneva, Malaga, Dublin, Tenerife, Orlando, Faro, Alicante, Edinburgh, Madrid and Barcelona.

BAA Gatwick reminds passengers that the one bag rule per person continues at security (excluding connecting flights). This rule will be relaxed very soon when the ongoing construction project to upgrade and expand the security facilities at the airport is completed. Passengers are also reminded that they can carry small quantities of liquids through security which can be no larger than 100 ml (gels, lotions, pastes, liquid cosmetics, foams and foodstuffs). They must be placed in a separate plastic sealed bag no larger than 20 centimetres square (approximately 8 inches).
