Gatwick entertains passengers with 'Fun Fridays'
23 August 2011
- Gatwick is introducing ‘Fun Fridays’ to entertain passengers during this busy Summer holiday period
- Half a million passengers expected to travel through Gatwick over the August bank holiday weekend (26 - 29 August)
In a joint collaboration, Gatwick Airport and Blackjack Promotions have launched ‘Fun Fridays’, a weekly event to entertain passengers as they travel through the airport before boarding their flight.
Activities will run every Friday, from 8am until 1pm, with a new event each week. Attractions will include a Barbershop-style quartet, a live steel band and break dancers. Children and adults alike can also expect to be entertained by a magician, as well as being treated to a free ice-cream as they enter the terminal.
The countdown to the August bank holiday weekend getaway will begin on Friday 26th, with professional samba dancers entertaining passengers and enhancing their holiday mood before they jet off on their holidays.
Richard Townsend, Customer Services Manager at Gatwick Airport commented: “Millions of families choose to travel through Gatwick Airport every summer and we're expecting around half a million to travel over the August bank holiday alone. We realise that travelling with children can be stressful at times, so we’re going out of our way to make their journey through the airport more enjoyable.
“We are sure our ‘Fun Friday’ entertainment will be enjoyed by all passengers but recognise this might just be a welcome distraction for many parents!”
Gatwick ‘Fun Fridays’ is scheduled to run until the 9th September.
