Key points:

  • Year on year traffic grew 0.8% in October as the summer 2010 season came to a close
  • Traffic to European scheduled markets rose 4.2%, attributable to growth in passenger volumes to many of the largest countries within this market, including Italy, France, Portugal and Germany
  • The North Atlantic market grew 9.7%, driven by increased passenger volumes to both Canada and the United States. Traffic to the US grew 2.1% marking the first year on year growth since early 2008 when the EU-US Open Skies agreement came into effect
  • Traffic during the recent half-term period grew 2.1% against the same comparable period last year
  • As the Winter 2010/11 season begins, Gatwick sees a number of new services already operating including easyJet to Luxor and Ryanair to Milan Bergamo, Faro and Oslo Rygge
  • Summer 2011 also comes into focus with British Airways announcing a thrice-weekly service to Marrakech, commencing on 27th March 2011.
