Press Release

Giraffe and Apostrophe open at Gatwick

9 March 2011

  • Brands Giraffe and Apostrophe bring cosmopolitan glamour to Gatwick
  • Gatwick chasing sought after restaurant brands to deliver quality food for its passengers

Gatwick has expanded its restaurant area in the South Terminal to keep pace with passengers’ evolving taste for good quality, international food with the opening this week of Giraffe and Apostrophe, operated by The Restaurant Group Concessions. The contemporary, customer-focused venues are in keeping with new Gatwick’s vision for the airport as a more dynamic, hospitability destination point.

Both restaurants are located on the mezzanine level overlooking the south terminal arrivals and will be adjacent to the new £45 million 19-lane security area when it opens this summer.

Robin Longden, Chief Commercial Officer for Gatwick said: “When passengers come to the UK’s second largest airport they expect high standards of customer service, modern facilities and contemporary retail and catering brands. We are working hard to meet those expectations.

“Anyone who has recently flown from Gatwick will see the airport in the throes of change. The dark flooring in the South Terminal, for example, is currently being replaced with a modern, white design to help create light and space. Wayfinding is being simplified to help passengers navigate their way through the airport and the security area is being upgraded and consolidated for ease of use.

“The airport eateries also need to reflect the modern, customer-focused environment we are trying to create and deliver quality food and drink. With the opening of sought after brands like Giraffe and Apostrophe we are now giving passengers a much wider range of choice between ‘food on the go’ outlets, relaxed coffee houses and good quality sit down dining establishments.”

Both restaurants opened for business on Friday 4 March.
