Gatwick hosts seventh “Meet the Buyer” event
19 June 2008
BAA Gatwick yesterday hosted the seventh annual Meet the Buyer event at the Gatwick Hilton Hotel. The event brings together local suppliers with key buyers from around the airport.
Following a business breakfast, the event was officially opened by Laura Moffatt, MP for Crawley, and exhibitors and delegates were welcomed by Andy Flower, Managing Director BAA Gatwick Airport and Henry Smith, Leader of West Sussex County Council. The event is a regular fixture in the calendar and is sponsored by BAA Gatwick Airport in partnership with West Sussex County Council, Crawley Borough Council, the Gatwick Diamond and Croydon Enterprise.
Gatwick is a key economic driver for the region, providing direct on airport employment for around 25,000 people. This year’s event, organised by Business to Business will be carbon neutral. “This Meet the Buyer event demonstrates the County Council's commitment to helping small and medium sized businesses develop and grow,” Henry Smith said. “With the help of all those involved, many more local businesses will benefit and indirectly the communities within which they operate.”
“Meet the Buyer is an important occasion for BAA Gatwick to work with our stakeholders in making a real difference to the local economy,” said Andy Flower. “This is the seventh year that the event has provided an opportunity to stimulate and add value to the local supply chain. It enables local businesses to meet potential new customers in an effective and time-efficient way.”
Similar Meet the Buyer events are held at BAA Heathrow, BAA Stansted, BAA Southampton and BAA Scottish Airports.
