New executive lounge arrives at Gatwick
20 November 2007
A new executive lounge opened today for passengers travelling through the North Terminal at Gatwick.
The new facility, named the Aviance Lounge and operated by Aviance, part of the Go-Ahead plc group, is situated on the first floor in the departure lounge and has been developed for passengers as an alternative relaxation area to the main departure lounge, as well as an area to work in prior to boarding a flight.
The newly refurbished lounge has doubled in size from the previous Aviance facility and now covers 4000 square feet. The lounge has undergone a complete refit including new ceilings, lighting, toilets and furniture and provides seating and access to computer work stations for up to 130 people, with access to Wi-fi at a small additional charge.
For passengers who simply wish to relax there is a bar and coffee area providing refreshments and snacks throughout the day, together with daily newspapers, magazines and television screens.
Any departing passenger will be able to enjoy the new facility with access provided by Aviance airline business partners, or ‘pay-on-the-door’ at the lounge reception for as little at twenty pounds.
Marking the opening of the lounge Arthur Dodgson, CEO, Go-Ahead Aviation Division said: “Operating an executive lounge has been a key part of our business for over 30 years. They are a great alternative to the main airport departure lounge for passengers who simply want to relax or work prior to boarding a flight.
“We believe that the addition of the Aviance lounge in the North Terminal at Gatwick is a world class facility for a world class airport.”
Emma Rees, Head of Property, BAA Gatwick added: “We're absolutely delighted Aviance has developed such a great facility for passengers travelling through the North Terminal. It’s a great addition to what's already on offer and provides passengers with real choice, whether they wish to enjoy the wide range of shops and restaurants available in the main departure lounge, or simply unwind before their board their aircraft.”
