Press Release

New welcome for Gatwick passengers

28 November 2007

A new arch at Gatwick's North Terminal greets passengers travelling to the airport by road.

The arch was transported from Terminal 3 at Gatwick’s sister airport, Heathrow, as part of BAA’s work to recycle construction materials. It follows the successful reception of the South Terminal welcome arch which was erected in 2004.

Jo Astor, retail director, said: “We are delighted that the arch has been installed as it gives our passengers a bright first impression of Gatwick Airport. We are also pleased that we have reused the structure in its entire form and none of it will go to waste.”

Lighting is being installed on the arch this week and the area will be landscaped over the next month. The arch will also feature advertising.
