Support for noise insulation
07 October 2008
Around 1,000 homeowners are set to benefit from a new scheme, introduced by BAA Gatwick, to provide insulation against noise from the airport.
The BAA Gatwick Noise Insulation Scheme for Homes, which has its roots in BAA Gatwick’s Sustainable Development Strategy, will provide funding to meet 100% of the cost of secondary glazing (or 50% of the cost of standard or high-specification double glazed replacement windows) plus 100% of the cost of loft insulation and 100% of the cost of required ventilation.
Those homes that are eligible for the scheme have already been contacted by the airport. Work will be undertaken in a phased manner with priority given to those people who live closest to the airport and most affected by noise. The scheme will be open for two years.
The scheme has been developed following extensive consultation with residents, local authorities, local MPs and business partners. Feedback gathered has been used to refine the scheme and to improve it wherever practically possible.
