Onward Travel Centre
24 October 2007
As part of BAA Gatwick’s commitment to increase the use of public transport by passengers and staff, a new Onward Travel Centre will open in the South Terminal on Monday 29 October.
Located in the arrivals hall, on the site of the former smoking area, the centre is conveniently placed for arriving passengers and will bring together a wide selection of onward travel choices for passengers. These include Southern Trains, Gatwick Express, National Express Coaches, Checker Cars, Hotel link as well as a selection of other public transport operators.
The Onward Travel Centre is part of BAA Gatwick’s investment of £850 million over the next ten years. It also supports one of the airport’s commitments, published in the Interim Master Plan, for 40% of non-transfer passengers to be using public transport for their surface journeys, when annual air passenger numbers reach 40million in around ten years time.
“The Onward Travel Centre is one of our many projects designed to put our passengers first,” Jo Astor, Retail Director BAA Gatwick said. “The centre will enable our passengers to select their onward travel choice simply, from the wide range on offer in one place. Our public transport links to Gatwick are already very good with, for example, around 950 train services a day, operated by six rail companies, serving the airport alone.”
The existing Hotel link, Southern Trains and National Express desks in the South Terminal will close once the new centre opens.
