Gatwick’s flight punctuality improves
10 September 2009
Figures published today by the Civil Aviation Authority today have shown an improvement in the punctuality of flights from London Gatwick Airport.
The figures, covering the period from April to June 2009 show the overall on-time performance (defined as early to 15 minutes late) of scheduled flights increased by 11 percentage points. This now means that 81% of scheduled flights from the airport are on-time, compared to 70% of flights in the same period last year.
Between April and June 2009, the average delay on charter flights from the airport reduced by 11 minutes to 20 minutes, compared to the same period in 2008. “The punctuality of flights is one of the most important things to our passengers. We have worked hard with our airline partners to improve the on-time performance of flights from the airport,” said David Stretch, Customer Services Director. “We have worked on new initiatives with a number of airlines, such as longer, more flexible check-in times and better processes, to improve the passenger’s journey but there’s still more work to do to deliver the consistently high standards of service we strive for.”
