BAA Gatwick launches annual Christmas Appeal

06 December 2006

The launch of this year’s BAA Gatwick Christmas Appeal brought the festive spirit to the airport at the beginning of the week.

As part of the appeal fundraising for three local charities, Travel-Care, the RNIB and St Catherine’s Hospice, carol singing will take place around the tree in the South Terminal and North Terminal Arrivals Halls on selected mornings between now and Christmas.

Kevin Harman, BAA Airline Relations and Chairman of the Christmas Appeal, is hoping to exceed the £8,190 collected last year and has enlisted the help of an army of new Santa collection boxes which have now spread out around the airport.

“I am always amazed by the generosity of our passengers and staff at Gatwick, who, despite the many demands on their Christmas finances, give so willingly,” Kevin said.

The appeal was launched with singing by students from Ifield Community College by the Deputy Mayor of Crawley, Chris Redmayne, himself a former student of the college.
