Passengers travelling to the United States of America from London Gatwick Airport should expect additional security measures to be carried out prior to boarding the aircraft.
Passengers are advised to check with their airline for specific travel advice and to limit their hand baggage to one item to help minimise waiting times.
Security at London Gatwick Airport will always be our highest priority and it is a multi-layered operation. While some procedures are visible to passengers, some are not and a variety of security systems and detection methods are in place.
London Gatwick fully meets the security standards laid down by the Department for Transport for UK airports. In addition, we regularly review and vary some procedures to ensure that Gatwick remains one of the safest and most secure airports in the world.
