WANTED: two volunteers to speak up for Gatwick Airport passengers
24 May 2010
London Gatwick Airport has an ambitious plan to improve the service we provide to our passengers and the advice we receive from GATCOM’s Passenger Advisory Group (PAG) is a key part of fulfilling that strategy.
PAG is an independent body with fifteen members who volunteer around three days per quarter to visit the airport, monitor facilities and services, and provide feedback and recommendations on all aspects of the passenger experience. PAG needs two new volunteers to help play an important part in transforming the airport by ensuring that continuous improvement in customer service is engrained in Gatwick's DNA.
Candidates need to have the commitment and enthusiasm to volunteer their time to making Gatwick Airport a better place for everyone who uses it and can bring to the group other knowledge and experience from their professional and personal life. For example, candidates might be regular travellers or have a genuine interest in the way airports function.
PAG is especially keen to speak to people who have restricted mobility or who are professionals working within customer services or the aviation sector.
The Chairman of PAG, Peter Hall said: "Our members help shape all kinds of projects at the airport such as the new shuttle between terminals, new plans for check-in areas, facilities for passengers with reduced mobility, wayfinding signage and the development of the airport’s website. For someone who’s passionate about customer service this is a great opportunity to really make a difference for Gatwick’s passengers."
Strong communication skills are required as is the ability to provide critical and well argued counsel.
For more information please write to Paula Street, Assistant Secretary, GATCOM, County Hall, Chichester, West Sussex PO19 1RQ, e-mail paula.street@gatcom.org.uk or telephone 01243 752703.
The deadline for expressions of interest is 21 June, applications close on 28h June and interviews will be held at Gatwick on Monday 19 and/or Monday 26 July.
Note to editors:
GATCOM has 28 appointed representatives from a wide range of interests including local authorities, civil aviation, passenger, business and community and environmental groups. A Government representative is also present at the main GATCOM meetings, together with Gatwick Airport’s Managing Director and his senior management team.
