X-Factor runners-up Stacey Soloman and Olly Murs brought a touch of Christmas sparkle to London Gatwick Airport yesterday, Wednesday 16 December, for the launch of The Gatwick Factor, which is helping raise money for Great Ormond Street.
Entertaining passengers in what was their first gig since last weekend’s X Factor grand final, Stacey and Olly sang a medley of their favourite songs from this year’s shows in a magical winter ‘snowglobe’ located in the departures lounge, South Terminal, London Gatwick Airport. They also invited passengers to take to the microphone to show off their musical talents.
Second runner-up, Olly Murs, said: “It has been fantastic to get out and meet the fans. There is such a festive vibe at the moment and everyone is in a great mood because they’re jetting off for Christmas, so taking part in The Gatwick Factor has been brilliant fun.”
Stacey Soloman added: “It’s been really cool to be down here at Gatwick today doing something so fun and festive. I’m very jealous of everyone going on holiday, but as I’ve been away from my family so long during the X Factor, I’m now really looking forward to staying at home for a while.”
Fellow X Factor contestants Miss Frank also made a special appearance in the snowglobe, to help travellers get in the Christmas spirit before they head off on their festive breaks.
Until the 23 December 2009, passengers flying from the South Terminal can have their five minutes of fame in the snowglobe. Plus, all singers will be in with the chance of winning a once-in-a-lifetime holiday to the Northern Lights, courtesy of Norwegian Air and the Rica Ishavshotel. All performances will be filmed and available for viewing at www.thegatwickfactor.com from the 15 December.
