About Gatwick

On 4 December 2009, Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) became the new owners of London Gatwick Airport. The airport has entered an exciting new chapter, but it’s very much business as usual for our passengers.

Gatwick is the UK’s second largest airport with the busiest single-use runway in the world, serving 34 million passengers in 2008. Just 28 miles from London and with excellent rail and road connections, we’re also the convenient local choice for millions of people.

Work is already underway to transform Gatwick and we’re investing nearly £1 billion to substantially improve our passengers’ experience and make Gatwick a truly first class airport.

Gatwick is predominantly a point-to-point airport focused on scheduled and low-cost flights which make up 76% of our total traffic, while charter operations account for a quarter of all our flights. We’ve always been proud of our diverse and balanced mix of airlines providing routes to traditional holiday sunspots, such as Malaga and Tenerife, as well as emerging high end destinations in the USA, Caribbean and Middle East.

It’s true to say that Gatwick really does have something to offer everyone.
