Management
Andy was appointed Managing Director, Gatwick Airport in 2007, having joined BAA as Managing Director, Aberdeen Airport in 2003. Prior to BAA, Andy was Marketing Director at NTL Business, having previously been responsible for business planning, strategy and development at the telecommunications company. Prior to joining NTL he spent eight years in a range of senior management positions at British Aerospace plc.
Sarah was appointed Finance and Strategy Director in 2006, having previously been BAA's Head of Investor Relations. Prior to joining BAA, Sarah was a senior member of the investor relations team at the Royal Bank of Scotland plc. She was previously Finance and Operations Manager for Sport Business Group and began her finance career in Australia with Deloitte Touche Tomatsu, before relocating to the UK in 2000.
Mike was appointed Commercial Director in 2007. Prior to joining BAA, Mike was Project Director for £800 million redevelopment of St Pancras International Station for London and Continental Railways. He was previously Commercial and Marketing Director at both Newcastle and Bristol International Airports, having been Head of Marketing at Gatwick Airport in the early 1990s.
David was appointed Customer Services Director in 2006. Prior to joining BAA, David was Managing Director of Gatwick Express Ltd, part of National Express Group plc. During his career with the transport group he held senior positions in corporate development and finance in the UK and Australia, having begun his finance career with KPMG.
Andrew was appointed Director of Supply Chain in 2008, having previously been General Manager, Heathrow Airport Terminal One and then Head of Supply Chain, Heathrow Airport. Prior to joining BAA, Andrew held senior operations positions at British Aerospace. He was previously Group Supply Chain Director at Kenwood Appliances plc having also been responsible for UK manufacturing and operations in his earlier career with the company.
Stuart Birrell, Chief Information Officer (CIO)
Stuart was appointed CIO in 2008. Stuart was previously Vice President for IT at ACCO Brands Europe Ltd. where he led the post-merger development of a single IT function. Prior to that, he held a range of senior IT and operations positions at PepsiCo International (UK), having begun his career in engineering with Nissan Motor Group UK.
Security and Evironmental (HSSE) Assurance
Jonathan was appointed Head of HSSE Assurance in 2008, having previously been Head of Terminal Operations at the airport. Jonathan joined BAA in 2003 as a Project Leader, Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 before moving to Gatwick Airport as North Terminal Business Leader in 2005. Prior to joining BAA, Jonathan was Projects Manager for Jacobs Engineering and formerly a Captain in the British Army.
David was appointed Airport Solutions Director in 2007, having previously held a range of senior management positions at BAA. David’s experience with BAA spans risk management, airline relations, development and engineering at both Heathrow and Gatwick airports. Prior to joining BAA, he gained valuable experience across a range of construction sectors including offshore, landfill management and land reclamation, housing and industrial development.
Andrew McCallum, Head of Communications
Andrew was appointed Head of Communications in 2008. Andrew was previously Group Head of Corporate Reputation at Centrica plc, having joined the energy group as a graduate trainee. During his career with Centrica plc, Andrew also held senior positions in media relations, corporate responsibility, marketing and brand communications.
Julian was appointed Head of Human Resources in 2008, having held a number of senior operations management positions at the airport. Prior to joining BAA, Julian was responsible for major restructuring programmes, change management and strategy development at Gillette UK. His early career was in civil engineering with ICI Engineering Technology.
