Staff community involvement
As a business, BAA Gatwick is committed to volunteering in the local community and supporting the volunteer work of our employees. Over 200 members of staff shared their time and skills with local schools in a variety of activities such as one-to-one mentoring, acting as school link managers and school governors, work experience and industry days in the past year.
In addition, staff have given their time to a number of other community projects and activities over the last 12 months.
For example, 60 staff stepped in to transform a garden at SureStart Children’s Centre – a drop-in centre for local families in Crawley last year. The team went on to win the ‘Best Employee Activity’ award in the Community Service Volunteers (CSV) Make A Difference Day national awards coming top out of 100 entries in this category. Apart from staff time, BAA donated £3,000 to the project.
