Meet David

Gatwick recruited me straight from university on its graduate scheme. I've always been fascinated by planes and wanted to work around them, so this opportunity was perfect for me!

In my engineering role, I'm involved with on-site construction, all the way from the design phase to implementation.

I'm currently working on Gatwick's Explosive Detection System, which is going through a bit of an overhaul at the moment. As new machinery is being installed, it makes our jobs a little harder because we still need to make sure that everything else keeps running! It's gradual work, as we can’t take out more than one baggage line at a time.

I came to Gatwick from the University of Brighton after a four-year Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering. I didn't even know what the position entailed until I got the role, but it’s the best decision I ever made. Everyone in our team loves life at Gatwick - it really challenges and stimulates you, and there's an amazing camaraderie here. David, originally from Southampton, moved to the Gatwick area to begin life as a Graduate Field Engineer straight out of university.
