Calling all charities
We have an exciting opportunity for charities to apply to become Gatwick's new charity partner in 2020. Could that be you? If so, our staff will get behind you to fundraise and volunteer for you.
We work with three key charity partners, who in turn tirelessly support communities in and around the airport. We choose our charities carefully, and, in turn, we commit to supporting you for a full two years. That adds up to a lot of support!
Our charity partners
We currently work with and support three charity partners:
Kent Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance whose doctor and paramedic teams can deliver all the skills and equipment of an A&E department to critically ill and injured patients.
St Catherine’s Hospice provides end-of-life care and support to terminally ill people and their families across Sussex.
Gatwick TravelCare that assists passengers facing a wide range of difficulties (Gatwick TravelCare is our permanent charity, which we will support on an ongoing basis).
Our partnership with St Catherine’s Hospice in Crawley is coming to the end of an amazing four-year term (after being voted back in after the first two years). That means we are seeking a new charity partner to fundraise for and volunteer with, starting in April 2020.
How we work with you
Gatwick’s corporate charity partnerships can be worth a great deal, but we believe that charity involves more than just money - and have a full and varied approach to our support.
From sponsored events such as running, walking, cake baking and even gardening, we want to get involved with what matters to you. That could be a larger scale event that we sponsor or participating in smaller fundraising activities. It all adds up. For many charities though, the power of time spent volunteering can make a much greater impact than money alone ever could.
Our 3,000 staff want to get behind a charity (big or small) that is making a real difference in the local communities around the airport.
Collection points around the airport terminals raise a surprising amount of money for our partner charities. Last year £86,000 was raised this way and shared between our three charities.
How to apply
If you’re a registered charity based in Kent, Surrey or Sussex, or at least benefit communities in those counties, then you are eligible to apply to be our new charity partner for 2020-22.
Applications are open until 15 November 2019. Six charities will then be shortlisted and invited to deliver a pitch in front a panel of Gatwick staff. A smaller group of charities will then be put to a staff vote.
Gatwick Foundation Fund
The Gatwick Foundation Fund aims to make a real difference to the communities around the airport. In providing grants to community groups and small charities we are able to support them in realising their objectives. If becoming a charity partner isn’t the right fit for you then why not consider applying for funding support from the Gatwick Foundation Fund.
