We offer two DfT accredited courses - aviation security managers initial and aviation security managers refresher.
Training is mandatory and designed for security managers employed by airports, airlines, airline agents, in-flight suppliers and cleaning contractors who have direct managerial responsibilities for employees carrying out aviation security duties.
Meeting all DfT requirements, and taking just five days our aviation security managers initial training course is fully comprehensive, yet the most intensive in the industry.
The training programme follows the Department for Transport's National Aviation Security Programme and includes the following:
- The threat to aviation
- International and national objectives of aviation security and legislation
- Managing/responding to security incidents
- Legal powers, the role of the police and incident reporting
- Security Restricted Area (SRA) access control and security
- Quality control
- Airport security
- Aircraft security
- Air cargo security
- In-flight supplies security
- Airport supplies security
Delegates who successfully complete the course will receive the Aviation Security Manager Certificate, accredited by the DfT. The certificate is valid for three years after which a refresher course is required.

Refresher course
A one day refresher course is required every three years, as a follow on from the initial course. Topics covered are:

- Understanding the NASP
- Contingency Planning & Incident Management
- Maintaining the Entity Security Programme
