When a user creates an account on the Gatwick Airport App, we give them the opportunity to opt-out of marketing and newsletters from Gatwick Airport. If they do not opt-out, we will send our newsletter and marketing to the email address they provide.
We will use the name and email address the user provided when they created their App account.
Gatwick Airport has a legitimate interest in telling users about the products and services on offer in the airport, and the promotions it has on. Users are given the opportunity to opt-out when they first provide their email address, and can unsubscribe at any time by following the "unsubscribe" link contained in each email.
Gatwick Airport retains this personal data until a user requests the data to be deleted or after 3 years of inactivity on the account, although Gatwick Airport will stop sending a user marketing if the user opts out when they register for the App or subsequently unsubscribe.
How is personal data used to tailor the newsletter and airport related offers we send to users so that they are relevant to them?
Gatwick Airport may tailor the emails it sends to users based on what it believes the user will be interested in from the personal data available to it.
We will use the personal data a user supplies to us to tailor the marketing emails they receive. For instance, we might send a user details of a special promotion we have running on the date of their departure, based on the flight details they have added to the App.
Gatwick Airport has a legitimate interest in tailoring the marketing it sends to increase open and click rates, which benefits the user as they receive marketing emails that are more relevant to them.
