Over 45 years experience

Our first apprentices joined us in 1977 and we've welcomed new ones every year since.

Over 300 apprentices started their career with us, and over a third have gone on to grow their career at Gatwick.

Our community work forms part of our sustainability policy

Building future skills is a key part of our sustainability policy - the Decade of Change.

We welcomed our first apprentices in 1977

Hear from some of our current apprentices

Abi, 2nd year

I knew from 14 that I wanted to do an apprenticeship straight from GCSE. Gatwick caught my eye because of the hands-on experience that they offered, and the opportunity to work in a variety of areas.

Only 12% of the engineering industry are female - that needs to change. I want to encourage more women and girls into engineering roles and be part of the change.

Finlay, 2nd year

This past year has been amazing! Being introduced to the other apprentices who are now some of my closest friends, and meeting the technicians on the job.

The first year at college teaches you practical skills such as welding, machining and hand fitting whilst also backing you up with the theory knowledge alongside it. Plus the opportunity to work at Gatwick during the half terms.

Zoe, 2nd Year

I was first inspired by engineering when visiting the Kennedy Space Centre. I'm fascinated by how things work, taking creative ideas and building them.

The apprenticeship has introduced me to aspects of engineering I'd not experienced before. You'll get hands on experience, putting your practical skills to use and work as a team.
