Community & sustainability | Gatwick Airport

Community and sustainability

We have developed a strong programme of community investment and we play a vital role in the regional economy, while working to address the social and environmental issues that matter to local people. Find out more in this section.

local community

We work with community groups across the region. Bringing local residents together gives us an opportunity to connect with our neighbours. We're involved with and sponsor many local events and organisations, as well as our main charity partners and the Gatwick Foundation Fund.

Sustainability

In 2010, we set out a 10-year plan for our sustainable growth, with 10 issues to address. As the airport grows, we are leading on innovation to reduce our impact on the environment. Our runway lights are 100% LED to improve energy efficiency and we're certified as Carbon Neutral.

Education

We are passionate about inspiring young people to follow their aspirations. A big part of that is getting out to local schools and demonstrating how STEM subjects can facilitate a great career in aviation. We also invite students directly into Gatwick via our innovative Learn Live programme.
