We're looking forward - and we've set out our plans to bring our existing Northern Runway into regular use alongside our Main Runway.
Regular use of our Northern Runway would reduce delays, bring new global connections and allow us to grow. We could serve 75 million passengers a year by 2038. Other elements of our plans include improved airport and highway access. Plus, more landscaping and green planting.
Our plans are a low impact way to unlock new capacity by using what we already have. We will also secure our long term growth, generate 18,400 extra jobs and £1.5 billion for the local area and region by 2038.
We're taking our plans forward now; due to the time it will take to gain the necessary approvals. We've also factored in the time it will take to construct and start operations. Our plans meet all global safety standards.
In Autumn 2021, we ran a public consultation on our plans. Our plans continue to develop based on your feedback and further assessment work.
We've begun a six week focused consultation on updated road designs; which form part of our plans to bring our existing Northern Runway into regular use alongside our Main Runway.
We've also published updates and are seeking feedback on other areas of our plans, including: car parking, hotels, offices and public transport.
Read our Consultation documents and share your feedback by 11:59pm on 27 July 2022.
