Rail improvement works at London Waterloo from 5 - 28 August 2017
Rail improvement works at London Waterloo will impact passengers coming to or from Gatwick using Wimbledon, Clapham Junction and Vauxhall stations. There will be a significant reduction to South West Trains services and Southern and Thameslink services will be busier as a result.
National Rail are strongly advising that passengers avoid interchanging at Clapham Junction and leave extra time for your journey.
Disruption to Southern overnight rail services to and from Gatwick
Southern Rail is making a key change to overnight services from London Victoria to Gatwick and Brighton to enable Network Rail to carry out essential engineering works.
Overnight Thameslink services to London Blackfriars and London St Pancras International are not affected. See the overnight timetable.
Please plan your journey in advance and allow plenty of extra time to get to the airport.
Which services will be affected?
- On Sunday - Thursday nights there will be no Southern trains departing after 00:05 and before 04:52 operating to or from London Victoria to Gatwick Airport/Brighton.
- There will be no overnight Gatwick Express services between 23:30 and 05:00.
- Passengers with Southern tickets will be able to use Thameslink services from London Blackfriars to travel between central London and East Croydon, Gatwick Airport/Brighton. Late evening and overnight Thameslink services will call additionally at Purley, Coulsdon South, Merstham, Redhill and Horley, with some trains also running to Haywards Heath and Brighton.
- Southern services will run as normal on Friday and Saturday nights.
