Is there a family lane at passport control?

If you are travelling with a young baby or have a disability please speak to a member of staff and they will be happy to show you to an appropriate lane.

What happens with my pushchair at the airport and at my destination?

You can take your pushchair through security and right up to the aircraft gate. It will then be placed in the hold just before you board. After your flight, it will be returned to you in the baggage reclaim area along with your other luggage.

Are there pushchairs available for families to use at the airport?

Pushchairs are not available to borrow at London Gatwick.

If you're departing, you're welcome to take your own pushchair through security and all the way to your departure gate. For arriving passengers, pushchairs will be returned to you in the baggage hall along with the rest of your luggage.

Are there any baby changing facilities?

Yes, these are located in both terminals before and after security.

Do you have a family lane at security?

Yes, London Gatwick has dedicated family lanes at security for departing passengers. If you're travelling with young children or using a pushchair, these lanes offer a bit more time and support to help your family move through security comfortably. Just follow the signs when you arrive at the security area.

What are the rules around travelling with children without their parent(s) or a child travelling alone?

For full information on permission and consent for travelling abroad with children please visit the website for the UK government. To find out how old you have to be to travel alone, please contact your airline directly.

If you are travelling with an unrelated or child with a different surname, the border officer may ask you a few questions to establish your relationship with the child. It will help avoid confusion if you carry evidence of your relationship and/or the reason why you are travelling with the child. You should have completed our Young Traveller's form and bring it with you.

Can I take large baby equipment in my hand baggage?

As airline policies can vary, we strongly recommend checking directly with your airline to confirm their rules on hand baggage, specifically what can be brought into the cabin, what needs to be checked in, and what can be taken to the gate and stored in the hold.

If you're travelling with a child, items like a stroller, car seat, or booster seat can be brought through security. Just keep in mind that your child will need to be taken out while the equipment is screened by X-ray.

You can find more helpful information on our Travelling with Children page.

Where can I buy baby milk and food at the airport?

You can buy baby milk and food at Boots after security in both the North and South Terminals.

To make things easier, you can also pre-order baby milk through Boots' Click & Collect service and pick it up once you're through security.

Is there anywhere I can warm my baby's bottle at London Gatwick?

You can warm baby bottles in Pret a Manger in both South and North Terminals, and Wondertree in the South Terminal.
