Electric charging points

Gatwick is working to reduce emissions and promote cleaner transport

To help towards our goal, we've installed eight charging points for electric vehicles. All of these are located in our short stay car parks where you can re-charge your vehicle free of charge and stay free for up to four hours*.

How to use the charging points

It's very easy:

  1. Download the POD Point Open Charge app and register for a free account – it only takes a few seconds.
  2. Roll up, take your parking ticket and plug in your vehicle at one of our eight charging points. These are located in car park 3 (orange car park), level 1 in the South Terminal and in car park 5, level 3 in the North Terminal.
  3. Use the Open Charge app to find the correct charging point and confirm your charge within 15 minutes.
  4. Please go to the customer services office before you exit the car park. Show the Open Charge app and your car park ticket then drive away!
  5. You can check live availability of our charging points with POD Point, but no pre-booking is necessary.

 * Parking is only free for four hours, after that time the rate will be charged at the normal hourly rate.

Upgrades in Spring 2019 - we will be upgrading our Pod Point electric vehicle chargers in March and April.

North Terminal - EV charging will be unavailable between 22:00 on Sunday 24 March and 22:00 on Wednesday 3 April, while upgrade works are carried out. During this time, our EV chargers in the South Terminal Short Stay car park will remain operational on a first come first served basis.

South Terminal - EV charging will be unavailable between 22:00 on Wednesday 3 April and 18:00 on Wednesday 10 April, while upgrade works are carried out. During this time, our new fast EV chargers in the North Terminal Short Stay car park will be operational on a first come first served basis.

The upgrades will allow us to offer fast charging for electric vehicles using the North Terminal and South Terminal Short Stay car parks. Following the upgrades, an electricity tariff will be introduced for using the chargers. The charging service will continue to be offered as part of the Pod Point network. To access charging, simply sign up to the Pod Point smart phone app for free and start using the points. Please note that we are removing the ‘up to 4 hours free parking’ for owners of electric vehicles after the upgrades and full parking charges will apply.
